More than 3,200 children from the Houston area are in the foster care system, and almost 1,700 children who are legally available for adoption and waiting to be matched with a forever family. These numbers are real and they staggering, and they represent children from our communities that need each one of us to consider the role we can play in being family for them.
At Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) we believe that every child can experience healing from trauma, should remain connected to their story, and shouldn’t have to wait for stability. These things aren’t optional for us, and we anticipate that you agree. There’s a good chance that Foster Care, Adoption and Kinship Care are new to you, but that’s okay because we’ve been providing Christ-centered care and support for children and families in need for more than 115 years and we’re here for you every step of the way.
Our Houston Foster Care & Adoption Program partners with families who live in Harris, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Waller, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers and Galveston counties. We verify families for Foster Care and/or Adoption, and we consider it an honor to walk alongside Kinship Families, too.
At PCHAS, you’re going to learn about Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) and how we use this attachment-rich, trauma-informed philosophy to help families like you lead children toward healing in loving, safe and nurturing family relationships. PCHAS families benefit from our family centered, strength focused, goal driven approach. We live out this philosophy of care by keeping caseloads low for our Case Managers so that we can increase availability for your family. And, you can count on the expertise of every member of our team for the support you need, 24/7.
PCHAS’ history is rooted in the Presbyterian Church and we are grateful for the generosity of so many who continue to support our work. Today, we enthusiastically partner with agencies and individuals from a variety of faith communities and backgrounds.
Children in our community need great families—we hope you’ll consider becoming one of them. Give us a call at 713-522-2800 or send us an email at fosterandadopthouston@pchas.org. We’re eager to hear from you!
